Bala Vihar is a weekly gathering of children, between the ages of five to fifteen years at Hindu Samaj Temple, under the supervision of trained teachers from Chinmaya Mission. Bala Vihar follows a graded series of structured curriculum based on Hindu scriptures. The aim of Bala Vihar is to help children bloom, grow, and inculcate values through fun-filled activities. Bala Vihar enhances the overall development of a child at all levels — physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual.Chinmaya Mission centers worldwide have become models for teaching India’s rich spiritual heritage and fundamentals of Vedanta to the next generation. Operating under the guidance of Chinmaya mission centers, Hindu Samaj Bala Vihar classes are organized into different grade levels from pre-KG to Grade 12 to match the child’s learning ability. In promoting and teaching the universal philosophy of Oneness (Advaita Vedanta), children are made to understand that although Hinduism may appear to have many Gods, the Truth (God) is the one ultimate Reality, and thus it is one God appearing as many forms.
Purpose of Bala Vihar
Bala Vihar offers a cultural and spiritual orientation to the children of the modern age. The purpose of Bala Vihar is to inculcate in our children and youth a reverence for our ancient culture and inspire them to live up to the values with correct understanding.
